The UNDP RECOVERY PROGRAMME organizes a mini-cultural festival in Andek, under the theme: Dance for Development.
The people of Andek Municipality, Ngie Subdivision have, once more, demonstrated during a mini-cultural festival organized by the PPRD through UNDP in Andek on 19th Dec. 2024, that life is rapidly returning to normalcy in the municipality.
This mini-cultural festival, organized at short notice, which was presided at by the Divisional Officer for Ngie Subdivision, Mr. Oteh Philip BACHE and the Lord Mayor of the Municipality, Mr. Ubangoh Helly MANYELLE AKOBA, brought together 10 traditional dance groups of the municipality to display the culture and tradition of the Ngie people through dancing.
The Mayor used the opportunity to reassure the population, most of whom are expectant SOCIAL SAFETY NET beneficiaries, that the the project is taking every measure for the next payments to be effected in the nearest future. He regretted the delay and accumulation of the payments.
The UNDP Focal Point incharge of the organization of the event, Mr. PRISCO DIKO, promised to report his experiences, as he saw, to the UNDP. He stated that he was amazed with the huge population that turned out for the event at very short notice. That it was a clear indication that life was rapidly returning to normalcy and that the environment was ready for the reconstruction activities of UNDP.
The DivisionalOfficer encouraged the population to remain vigilant against any security threats and reassured the population that the state is always there to guarantee there wellbeing and security. He appealed to the population to always come out in their numbers to participate in all activities initiated by the Andek council, for their own development.
