Ngwokwong / TINEKOH bridge along the Regional Road No 05( R05) has been saved from total collapse.
The Lord Mayor of Andek Council, Mr. Ubangoh Helly, accompanied by the First Deputy Mayor, Mr. TCHEIKOH John and some dynamic youths of Andek Municipality have today, Monday, 27th Jan. 2025 saved the bridge at Ngwokwong/TINEKOH boundary, along the Regional Road No 05( R05) from total collapse.
This bridge constructed in the 60s, using only stones and mortar, with no iron rods has stood the test of time. But because of the increasing heavy trafic on this principal road linking ÀNDEK Municipality,
Ngie Subdivision, to Bamenda, through Mbengwi subdivision, the stones that were used to construct this curved bridge started to give way, giving rise to a big hole at the Centre of the bridge, through which a good number of pedestrians and animals have fallen into the river.
Mayor Ubangoh, being as proactive as he is, decided to mobilize some ever ready citizens of his municipality to join him to construct a temporary wooden bridge over the river, to save the people of Mbengwi and Ngie subdivision who are the principal users of this bridge from a calamity, while hoping that the powers that be shall take their responsibility to build a more permanent bridge over this river, considering that this road is a Regional Road, and is the main road linking Ngie subdivision to Bamenda, through Mbengwi.
His Royal Highness, the Fon of Ngwokong accompanied by some memebers of the Ngwokwong Development Association poured the necessary libation for the community work to go on smoothly and for the newly constructed bridge to stand the test of time.
