An Andek Council Mayor is elected through a direct universal suffrage and recognized as the civic leader of Ngie Sub-Division. The mayor is involved in advancing community cohesion and promoting civic awareness and is the principal member and spokesperson of Andek Council.

Promoting partnerships with other stakeholders towards the development of Ngie is focal to an Andek Council Mayor as well as;

-Preserving, maintaining and administering the council property and assets, and performing all acts aimed at preserving such property and assets;
-Managing revenue and supervising council services and accounts;
-Issuing building and demolition permits as well as land use authorisations;
-Preparing and proposing the budget authorising expenditure and prescribing revenue execution;
-Ensuring the execution of development programmes funded by the council or implemented with its participation;
-Taking measures relating to council road networks;
-Supervising council works; and a lot more
