After close to 8 years without a resident medical doctor in the municipality, as the state employed doctors over these years have refused to assume work at Andek, the Lord Mayor of Andek council, Mr. Ubangoh Helly, has recruited a well qualified medical doctor, a graduate of the University of BUEA, to take care of the health needs of the people of the municipality.

This recruitment was necessary considering that the nearest government hospital, the Mbengwi District hospital is about 30km from Andek, with a transport fare of about 10,000F from Ngie subdivision.

The people of the subdivision have been suffering all these years, taking minor health issues mostly to Bamenda, which is about 50km away from
Andek, through very bad roads.

The newly recruited medical doctor was presented to the excited and jubilant public, at the town’s square last Wednesday, 12th March 2025.
