Candidates for the recruitment of nurses and paramedics in the eight Health Centres of ÀNDEK were received in an orientation meeting by the Lord Mayor of Andek, Mr. Ubangoh Helly, in the presence of the representative of the state( the Divisional Officer for NGIE), Mr. Oteh Philip Bache, yesterday, 22nd Nov. 2024 in the Andek Council Hall.

This recruitment has come as a result of an absolute lack of medical staff in most of the Health Centres of the municipality; and following the interests manifested by some elites of the municipality to participate in council actions by sponsoring some activities in the Health sector.

The Lord Mayor once more took the opportunity to thanks the nurses and paramedics who have been voluntarily serving in various Health Centres as the state subvention( credit cards) for the payment of salaries of nurses and paramedics was not released in 2024 throughout the country.

The Mayor explained that while efforts are being made for the state to respect its engagement to continue to transfer the resources for the recruitment of nurses and paramedics to councils, the council can not continue to allow the sick people of the municipality to themselves; hence the need to source for funding to sustain the health services of the municipality.
The Divisional Officer, while praising the nurses serving in the various Health centres for their sacrifices, cautioned them against illicit practices such as the sale of private drugs, absenteeism and nonchalance. The Divisional Officer also cautioned the nurses to remain focused with their jobs and not to allow themselves to be manipulated.

The Lord Mayor explained to the applicants that, following repeated instructions from the state, only applicants with authentic certificates shall be recruited; and that the certificates submitted shall be channeled to health authorities for authentication before the result of the interviews shall be published.
